How to join

Two files, about five minutes. You need NeoForge and Create — nothing else.

Before you start you need: Minecraft Java Edition (you must own it) and the official Minecraft Launcher. You do not need to install Java yourself — the launcher ships the correct version for the NeoForge 1.21.1 profile. Around 2 GB of free RAM is plenty.

Get on the whitelist

Gart SMP is invite-only. Send your exact Minecraft (Java) username to an admin and wait for confirmation that you've been added. If you try to connect before that, you'll be told you're not whitelisted.

Download the two files

Grab both from the Downloads section below:

NeoForge 21.1.192 installer — installs the mod loader for Minecraft 1.21.1.
Create 6.0.6 — the mod itself (Flywheel & Ponder are bundled inside it).

Versions must match the server exactly: Create 6.0.6 on 1.21.1. Newer Create builds will not connect. Use the files here and you're guaranteed to match.

Install NeoForge

Double-click neoforge-21.1.192-installer.jar.

If it opens in an archive program instead of launching, right-click → Open With → Java (Java Platform SE binary). Or from a terminal: java -jar neoforge-21.1.192-installer.jar
In the installer window, choose Install client (leave the folder at the detected .minecraft), click Proceed, then OK.
Close the Minecraft Launcher first if it's open, so the new profile shows up.

A new profile called NeoForge 1.21.1 now appears in the launcher's profile list.

Install Create (drop it in your mods folder)

Move create-1.21.1-6.0.6.jar into your Minecraft mods folder (create the folder if it doesn't exist):

Windows: press Win+R, type %appdata%\.minecraft\mods, Enter
macOS: Finder → Go → Go to Folder… → ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/mods
Linux: ~/.minecraft/mods

Only one jar goes in there — create-1.21.1-6.0.6.jar. Don't add the NeoForge installer to mods.

Launch the NeoForge profile

In the Minecraft Launcher, select the NeoForge 1.21.1 profile (not the latest release) and click Play. On the title screen you should see Mods and a Create logo — that confirms it loaded.

Add the server and join

Multiplayer → Add Server. Server Address:

gart.grtn.uk

Save, double-click it, and you're in. (No port needed — it's handled automatically.)

Troubleshooting

“You are not whitelisted on this server!”

You haven't been added yet — send your exact username to an admin.

Red “Incompatible mods” / FML error screen

Wrong versions. You must be on the NeoForge 1.21.1 profile with Create 6.0.6 — no other mods are required. Re-download from the buttons above if unsure.

The NeoForge profile isn't in the launcher

Fully close and reopen the launcher after running the installer, and make sure you picked “Install client”.

Can I add other mods?

Yes — purely client-side extras (a minimap, or performance mods like Embeddium) are fine and optional. They don't need to be on the server. Don't remove Create.
